Velvet fabric is a woven pile fabric known for its soft, smooth, and luxurious surface with a rich appearance. It is commonly made from 100% polyester,The fabric generally comes in a GSM range of 180 to 350, with lighter weights used for garments and heavier qualities preferred for upholstery and home furnishing. Standard widths range from 44 inches to 60 inches, with special widths like 90 inches also available on order. Velvet features a cut pile construction that gives it a plush hand feel and elegant luster. It can be supplied in plain, crushed, embossed, or stretch variants with matte or glossy finish options. The fabric is usually solid dyed in customized shades with good to excellent color fastness and low shrinkage of around 3–5%. Velvet is widely used in garments, sofa upholstery, curtains, cushion covers, fashion accessories, and other home furnishing applications.
