Rib fabric is a knitted textile known for its excellent stretch, recovery, and soft handfeel, commonly used for neck ribs, cuffs, waistbands, T-shirts, tops and babywear. It is usually made in 1×1 or 2×2 rib structures and can be produced in various compositions such as 100% cotton blends, polyester-spandexmodal blends. The fabric typically ranges from 160 to 350 GSM depending on the end use, with lighter GSM suitable for T-shirts and heavier GSM preferred for sweatshirts and trims. Rib fabrics are available in both tubular and open-width forms, generally between 18" to 60" wide, and offer high elasticity with strong recovery, especially when blended with spandex. They can be finished with bio-wash, silicone wash, compacting, or enzyme wash and are dyed through reactive or disperse dyeing processes depending on the yarn. Overall, rib fabric is valued for its durability, breathability, and comfort, making it suitable for a wide range of apparel applications.
